Casting Notes: Donald Trump Cameos in Wall Street 2; Jeremy Piven and Kate Walsh go to Canada

trump_wall_street_2

Quick, who’s the most obvious cameo to have in Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps? I guess I’ve already given it away right there in the headline, but you should have had the answer anyway: Donald Trump. The cameo is so on the nose that I would have disbelieved it if I only read the account from the UK’s Daily Mail tabloid. They make stuff up all the time, after all. But there are photos and everything, of Trump with returning star Michael Douglas, and director Oliver Stone.

We don’t know who Trump plays, but I’d put my money on ‘Donald Trump’. Hopefully it’ll be nothing but a very brief appearance; I’ll have enough trouble looking at Gordon Gekko twenty years later without dealing with the distraction of Trump’s hair. Nic Cage has nothing on that guy.

After the break, a whole slew of actors join the indie Waska.

An indie drama called Waska just started shooting in Calgary, and it has a pretty impressive cast: Jeremy Piven and Kate Walsh just joined Thomas Dekker, Lynn Collins, Mira Sorvino, Elizabeth McGovern and Joseph Morgan. Yep, the great low-key Mira Sorvino comeback continues. OK, she never really went away, but after a couple of high-profile films she really dropped off the map for a while.

This film is about “a young father who loses his son, throwing the community into disarray at the time of Waska — the first snowfall of the year, which is magical but often treacherous.” Guess Piven is the father, and we’ll know more about who’s who as the film goes on. Good to see Piven doign more to play outside the type created by Entourage. Hope this one works. Gaby Dellal is directing from Catherine Trieschmann‘s script, based on the novel Angel’s Crest by Leslie Schwartz. [Variety]

‘Scary Movie 5′ Trailer #2: Proving That Some Moments Should Never Be Taped

It’s something of a crime that Scary Movie 5 is being sold using Danny Elfman’s great theme from Beetlejuice, but since the whole movie looks like something of a crime, I guess it’s just par for the course.

The movie continues the series’ goal of parodying big horror movies, and this trailer incorporates a bunch of gags that riff on Evil Dead and Mama, among other movies. It works about as well as the first trailer did, which is to say that your mileage with this one will probably vary based on

The trailer, which isn’t set up as a red-band, but might not be safe for work thanks to a shower scene.

The film features Erica AshCharlie SheenMolly ShannonTerry CrewsMarisa SaksHeather LocklearJasmine GuyAngie Stone,Kate WalshAngela “Big Ang” RaiolaSherée WhitfieldMike TysonAudrina PatridgeKendra Wilkinson and Katt Williams. It opens on April 12.

In the film, snooty, aloof, imperious, and oversexed French dance company director Pierre is putting on a new production. Jody (Tisdale), a Caucasian late-20s mother of two and her late-20s African American friend Kendra (Ash) are both vying for the lead in the production. Jody’s extremely controlling former dancer mother is determined that Jody will have the brilliant career that eluded her. The highly skilled mid-30s Diva veteran dancer with the company, Heather Daltry (Shannon), gets cut from the production and goes berserk.

The Killing 16

Get ready for Arrested Development‘s triumphant return this weekend with these four more clips from the new season. Also after the jump:

  • David Fury will return for 24: Live Another Day
  • David Slade will direct Ronald Moore’s Helix
  • DirecTV’s Full Circle adds Buffy and FNL alums
  • CCH Pounder joins Sons of Anarchy
  • FX’s The Bridge sets a premiere date
  • See new pics from The Killing Season 3
  • CBS picks up Bad Teacher for midseason
  • Check out trailers for their other new shows
  • Netflix “would love” more Arrested Development
  • See four more clips from Season 4

24: Live Another Day has hired its first writer. David Fury, who has been with 24 since Season 5, has signed for the Fox limited series, which already has former showrunner Howard Gordon attached.

“Howard Gordon has a shortlist of writers whom he relies on enormously, and David is one of them,” said Fox chairman Dana Walden. “He was hugely important to 24 over the course of its run, and bringing him back for Live Another Day was quite frankly a no-brainer.” The limited event will air in 2014. [Deadline]

Fresh off of three episodes (including the pilot) of NBC’s Hannibal, David Slade is venturing once more into dark genre territory with Helix. The Syfy series, from Battlestar Galactica‘s Ronald D. Moore, has just set Slade to direct the first episode. The show follows a team of scientists investigating an alarming disease outbreak. Production will begin this summer in Montreal. [Deadline]

Neil LaBute is bringing on some notable talent for his first TV effort. Full Circle, his 10-episode DirecTV series, has added a slew of familiar faces including Tom Felton, Minka Kelly, Julian McMahon, David Boreanaz, Keke Palmer, Devon Gearhart, Billy Campbell, Kate Walsh, Noah Silver, Ally Sheedy, Cheyenne Jackson, and Robin Weigtert.

The show “examines the human condition and relationships through a series of conversations between 11 people whose lives, unbeknownst to them, are intertwined,” which kinda sounds to me like that failed ABC drama Six Degrees. Hopefully LaBute will have better luck with that concept. [Deadline]

Kurt Sutter is bringing yet another star from his The Shield days to FX’s Sons of Anarchy. CCH Pounder has signed on for a multi-episode arc on the upcoming season of the biker drama, as San Joaquin County DA Tyne Patterson. Her first appearance will be in the second episode. [EW]

In other FX news, buzzy freshman drama The Bridge has finally set a premiere date and time: Wednesday, July 10 at 10 PM. Diane Kruger and Demián Bichir play cops from opposite sides of the U.S.-Mexico border who join forces to catch a serial killer. [Deadline]

That seems as good a segue as any into this next item, which also concerns a serial killer murder mystery. AMC has revealed a ton of pics from the Season 3 premiere of The Killing, featuring returning leads Mireille Enos and Joel Kinnaman, newcomers Aaron Douglas and Peter Sarsgaard, and more.

The Killing comes back June 2. [via Screen Crush]

CBS announced most of its new series earlier this month, but at the last minute it’s decided to add one more. The network has picked up the single-camera comedy Bad Teacher for a midseason premiere. As you might’ve guessed from the title, it’s based on the 2011 movie of the same title, with Ari Graynor in the Cameron Diaz role.

Meanwhile, CBS’ other high-profile adaptation, Beverly Hills Cop, will not be moving forward at the network. There’s still a chance it could find a home elsewhere, however. [Deadline]

We’ve already taken a peek behind the scenes, but now CBS is ready to show you proper promos for its 2013-2014 batch of shows. That includes comedies The Crazy Ones, The Millers, Mom, and We Are Men, plus dramas Hostages and Intelligence. See them all below.

To quote Gob’s favorite song, “it’s the final countdown.” We’re just a day and a half away from the long-awaited return of Arrested Development, thanks to Netflix. But if you really can’t wait to dive in, here are a few clips to nibble on while we wait.

The fact that the new episodes haven’t even hit yet means it’s still early to start speculating on the future of Arrested Development beyond Season 4. But that hasn’t stopped us or anyone else from wondering about it. In an interview, Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos floated the possibility of a Season 5 on the streaming service, though he admits it could be a challenge to pull together.

We would love to do more, and we have a deal in place that says that there could be. The problem is logistics. They were all working full-time and doing this show in between, and they did it for the love of the show and for Mitch Hurwitz. If we can muster up that love again, we’d love to do it again. And we have talked openly about a movie scenario, too.

Fifteen new episodes of Arrested Development hit Netflix this Sunday, May 26, at 12 AM Pacific time (so, basically Saturday night for West Coasters). Assuming they’re any good, how would you rather see this saga continue — with another season or a movie?

Bob Odenkirk, Glenn Howerton, Oliver Platt, and More Join FX’s ‘Fargo’

Bob Odenkirk

After spending four seasons of Breaking Bad trying to evade law enforcement, Bob Odenkirk will switch sides for FX’s Fargo.

The comedian has boarded the ten-part limited series in a supporting role, along with Glenn Howerton (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia), Kate Walsh (Private Practice), Joey King (The Conjuring), Adam Goldberg, Oliver Platt, and more. Hit the jump to find out which characters the new stars will be playing.

Although the new show will share the same setting and “Minnesota nice” tone with Joel and Ethan Coen‘s original 1996 film, it’ll follow a new case with new characters. Those include henpecked salesman Lester Nygaard (Martin Freeman) and antagonist Lorne Malvo (Billy Bob Thornton). Colin Hanks was cast earlier this month as a single dad and police deputy Gus Grimly.

According to THR, Odenkirk will play Deputy Bill Olson, who has seniority over his younger, smarter, more ambitious colleague Molly Solverson (Allison Tolman). Howerton will play a personal trainer named Don Chumph, Platt has been cast as Stavros Milos a.k.a. “the Supermarket King of Minnesota,” and Walsh will portray Gina Hess, an ex-stripper who’s mom to twin teenage boys.

Rounding out the cast are King as Gus’ daughter Greta; Peter Breitmayer as Gus’ superior officer; Tom Musgrave as Lester’s boss at the Bo Munk Insurance Shop; Josh Close as Lester’s younger, more successful brother Ron; and Goldberg and Russell Harvard as Fargo Crime Syndicate members “Mr. Numbers” and “Mr. Wrench.”

While Fargo has been conceived as a miniseries, FX has previously said that the show could become an American Horror Story-style anthology if it fares well. The show has big shoes to fill, since the original Fargo was pretty damn great, but this intriguing cast seems like a promising sign.

FX’s Fargo is expected to shoot in Calgary next month for a spring 2014 premiere. Adam Bernstein (Californication, Breaking Bad) is on board to direct the premiere episode. Noah Hawley (The Unusuals) will write, as well as produce with Warren Littlefield, Geyer Kosinski, and the Coens.

Fargo TV trailer

Fargo, the series, follows in the footsteps of Fargo, the movie, with the blessing of Ethan and Joel Coen. This isn’t a strict remake, but rather a new “true crime” story that is very much in the vein of the Coen Brothers movie, and which shares the same Minnesota setting and collection of friendly/quirky accents. That said, this new trailer shows that Martin Freeman seems to be doing his darndest to channel William H. Macy’s performance.

Some of the rest of the cast (which includes Billy Bob Thornton, Allison TolmanColin HanksBob OdenkirkKate WalshAdam GoldbergOliver PlattGlenn HowertonJordan PeeleKeegan-Michael KeyJoey King, and Julie Ann Emery) also has their own Coen debt to pay. Whether this will end up being able to stand on its own two feet is open to question now, but this trailer is entertaining enough that we’ll be watching the first episodes of the 10-episode series on FX.

Fargo debuts April 15 on FX.

Adam Bernstein directed the first episode based on a script by Noah HawleyAllison TolmanColin HanksBob OdenkirkOliver PlattKate Walsh, and Glenn Howerton also star.

An original adaptation of the Academy Award®-winning feature film, Fargo features an all-new “true crime” story and follows a new case and new characters, all entrenched in the trademark humor, murder and “Minnesota nice” that made the film an enduring classic. Oscar® winner Billy Bob Thornton stars as “Lorne Malvo,” a rootless, manipulative man who meets and forever changes the life of small town insurance salesman “Lester Nygaard,” played by BAFTA Award® winner and Emmy®-nominated Martin Freeman. Colin Hanks plays Duluth Police Deputy “Gus Grimly,” a single dad who must choose between his own personal safety and his duty as a policeman when he comes face-to-face with a killer. Allison Tolman also stars as “Molly Solverson,” an ambitious Bemidji deputy.

‘Staten Island Summer’ Trailer: A Cavalcade of SNL Stars Regret Nothing (Except the Herpes)

Staten Island Summer trailer

There are plenty of movies hitting the big screen this summer, but it looks like one of this season’s gems may not be in theaters. Netflix is releasing the indie comedy Staten Island Summer on the streaming service at the end of the month, and this looks like a hilarious coming-of-age comedy.

Saturday Night Live creator and showrunner Lorne Michaels produced the film that features a cavalcade of cameos from his own discoveries such as Fred Armisen, Will Forte, Kate McKinnon, Bobby Moynihan and Cecily Strong. But at the core of the story are two teens on the verge of figuring out adulthood. And you can see the amusing results of that in the first Staten Island Summer trailer after the jump.

Here’s the indie comedy trailer, straight from Yahoo:

As previously reported, the film’s main story follows Graham Phillips (The Good Wife) and Zack Pearlman (Mulaney) as two best friends and recent high school graduates who work as lifeguards during the summer while they figure out their future. With that job comes irresponsibility, partying, and pining after girls.

Honestly, it looks like Superbad at poolside, but the story draws inspiration from SNL head writer Colin Jost‘s personal life. In addition, SNL producer and director Rhys Thomas got behind the camera to bring this comedy to life, and it looks just as good (if not better) as any studio comedy hitting theaters this summer.

Just going by the trailer, this could prove to be a breakthrough turn for both Phillips and Pearlman, and we just might be looking at two future comedy stars if this film gets enough attention on Netflix.  The rest of the cast includes Ashley Greene, Kate Walsh, Gina Gershon, Method Man, John Deluka, Michael Patrick O’ Brien and Mary Birdsong.

Netflix exclusively debuts Staten Island Summer on July 31st.

13 reasons why season 2

Over the weekend, I binge-watched all thirteen episodes of Netflix’s new series 13 Reasons Why.

You may have watched the trailer for 13 Reasons Why and quickly discounted it as another forgettable YA adaptation, but I assure you, the series is worth your time. It has episodes directed by Oscar-winning director Tom McCarthy (Spotlight, The Visitor), Gregg Araki (Mysterious Skin, The Doom Generation), Jessica Yu (American Dreams, Ping Pong Playa), among others. And since it’s adapted from a book, it feels more like a 13-hour movie than a 13 episode TV series (and this is a case where this is a good thing).

When 13 Reasons Why ends, it leaves us with some questions and lingering storylines that make me wonder if the series could return for more, even if the source material has already been brought to the main screen. Let’s explore the unanswered questions and discuss if there are plans for a 13 Reasons Why Season 2.

13 reasons why

Will We Get 13 Reasons Why Season 2?

While the book that the series is based on is one and done, author Jay Asher told EW he would like to see a 13 Reasons Why Season 2:

I’d just like a continuation of all those characters. I’m curious as well. What happens to Clay? How do people react to what Alex did at the very end? What’s going to happen to Mr. Porter? I’d thought of a sequel at some point. I’d brainstormed it, but decided I wasn’t going to write it. So I’d love to see it.

To expand the book to the TV series, they developed the stories of many of the side characters and thus the season finale features a material not in the book. Executive Producer Selena Gomez, who was originally going to play Hannah when it was set to be a movie produced by Universal Pictures, was also asked about the possibility of a second season. Here is what she said:

We don’t know what is going to go beyond it, but we know there are so many stories that lie beneath each character. That’s why it became a series in the first place. So we’ll see.

It sounds like they have some ideas for a second season, but they are still waiting to see the response for the show on Netflix. Katherine Langford, the actress who plays Hannah Baker in the series, agrees that “there’s definitely more story to tell”:

It would be cool to continue the dialogue of this story. There are so many cliffhangers at the end of the season. At the end of the season, I had to sit back. I didn’t think about what happens next. It’s more of this feeling like, “Oh my God, that’s the story that needed to be told.”

Many fans believe they shouldn’t have a second season. Having just watched the first season, I can definitely see why they would want to end it here. But the show’s season one finale certainly sets up a number of dangling plot threads and the characters are interesting enough to explore further. But could they come up with a conceit that is as interesting as the first season/book?

Let’s take a look at some of the questions left by the ending of 13 Reasons Why‘s first season.

13 reasons why ending alex

What Happened to Alex?

The penultimate episode of 13 Reasons Why teases that a young male student is being rushed to the hospital as the result of a gunshot wound to the head. The show leads us to believe that the boy is Tyler (Devin Druid), who we see illegally buying a gun during the episode. But we don’t learn the identity of the student until the final minutes of the last episode: Alex (Miles Heizer) was the one that apparently committed suicide.

The last time we saw Alex on screen, he was organizing his closet and hearing from his dad that he wouldn’t need to sit through the deposition. During the finale, Zach (Ross Butler) receives a number of urgent text messages from Alex, but when he calls him back, he is greeted by someone else on the other end.

Was that Alex’s dad? Why would Alex attempt suicide? Is it possible that he was shot by someone else? Will he survive? Those are just some of the questions that are unanswered at the end of the season.

13 reasons why

What is Tyler Doing With the Guns and Photos?

One of the other shocking reveals in the season finale is that Tyler’s (Devin Druid) gun purchase is part of a bigger plan. We see that he has been stockpiling weapons in a case with a secret bottom, but for what purpose?

Was Tyler responsible for Alex’s death? And if so, why would he want to kill Alex? Is Tyler planning to shoot up the school in retaliation for all the bullying? We see Tyler organizing a set of photographs he took of his classmates. Is that Tyler’s revenge list? Did he remove Alex from the bunch because he stood up for Tyler in the hallway or is it because he somehow knew Alex had been shot?

I imagine that 13 Reasons Why season 2 could center on a school shooting, just as the first season focused on bullying/suicide/rape. Tyler’s memories have been captured in his photos and I’m sure that could be used as a framing device to present past events.

13 reasons why season 2

Will the Law Be Served?

Now that Hannah’s parents (Kate Walsh and Brian d’Arcy James) have the tapes, will they still go ahead with the lawsuit? And if so, will they win? A court trial could be an interesting way to continue the fractured flashback narrative, but is there more to say about Hannah’s story?

Will Clay’s mother be removed as a lawyer on the lawsuit? It seems like an obvious conflict of interest. Will Sheri (Ajiona Alexus) face manslaughter charges now they she turned herself in for knocking down the stop sign on the night of Jeff’s (Brandon Larracuente) accident? Is Clay’s taped confession enough to convict Bryce (Justin Prentice) of rape? Will the guidance counselor Mr. Porter (Derek Luke) get fired? Okay, we probably know the answer to that one.

13 reasons why tony

Other Mysteries

Why did Hannah trust Tony (Christian Navarro) so much? During the whole series, I expected Tony to be revealed as one of the classmates on the tapes, but we never really got much insight into his relationship with Hannah. Tony seemed to help Hannah once or twice, but Tony didn’t seem close enough to her to be trusted with this mission. He appears to have a much more personal investment than is revealed during this season.

And where will Justin (Brandon Flynn) go? We least see him in the finale confronting Bryce about the rape and apparently leaving town with a few personal belongings, which included money, a bottle of vodka, and a handgun. What does he plan to do with the gun?

13 Reasons Why Trailer

Will Hannah Baker Return?

If the show did return for a second season, could Langford possibly reprise her role as Hannah Baker? The whole conceit of the show is that she only recorded that set of tapes, and now that her character is dead. What would be the conceit to bring her back for the continued story?

The most obvious would be to have her return for more flashbacks, memories of her from parents and classmates. They could also explore bringing her back as Clay’s imagined conscious, but that could be really stupid. Hannah probably has hidden journals somewhere that could be exploited in some way, but should the show move past Hannah Baker?

13 Reasons Why season 2 trailer

The official 13 Reasons Why season 2 trailer is here, and things look darker than ever at Liberty High. The high school students are all still reeling from the aftermath of Hannah Baker’s (Katherine Langford) death and the vindictive tapes that she left behind pointing fingers at the perpetrators. And it looks like the tapes won’t be the only anonymous ’90s technology that will take the school by storm this season.

13 Reasons Why Season 2 Trailer

13 Reasons Why season 2 drops Clay Jensen’s (Dylan Minnette) narration in favor of Hannah’s — who is now long gone, but whose presence still lingers. Literally. A vision of Hannah follows Clay around as he grapples with the horrifying sexual assaults that have taken place at their school, and decides to take matters into his own hands.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Baker seeks justice for her daughter’s death, and Bryce Walker (Justin Prentice) finally sees the consequences for his reign of terror. But a new threat descends upon Liberty High in the form of ominous polaroid pictures (seriously, what’s next vinyl records?) that reveal even more secrets.

Season 2 promises the answers to the questions left hanging at the end of season 1, including the following:

  • How will Jessica heal in the aftermath of her assault?
  • Will Bryce be brought to justice?
  • How will Clay move on from the devastating loss of Hannah?
  • What happened to Alex?
  • What choices will Tyler make in the face of his social isolation?

Answers are all we want in the aftermath of a tragedy, but realistically, is it what we actually get? Usually not, but then again, 13 Reasons Why is still a wildly popular teen drama that leans heavily on the drama of it all. With the introduction of a new set of anonymous messages — this time, maybe not from Hannah — this show is starting to feel like Pretty Little Liars: a serialized teen soap where the mysteries, and body count, keep piling up. I get the feeling that this show isn’t really about dealing with grief and teen suicide anymore.

Here is the official synopsis for 13 Reasons Why season 2:

13 Reasons Why  Season 2 picks up in the aftermath of Hannah’s death and the start of our characters’ complicated journeys toward healing and recovery. Liberty High prepares to go on trial, but someone will stop at nothing to keep the truth surrounding Hannah’s death concealed. A series of ominous polaroids lead Clay and his classmates to uncover a sickening secret and a conspiracy to cover it up.

13 Reasons Why Season 2 debuts on Netflix on May 18, 2018.

13 reasons why season 2 trailer

The highly anticipated second season of 13 Reasons Why hits streaming today, and Netflix has released a whole new trailer to remind you of that fact.

13 Reasons Why Season 2 Trailer

The incredibly popular but divisive teen drama once again deals with the aftermath of Hannah Baker’s suicide, but deepens the mystery, this time with anonymous polaroid pictures claiming “Hannah Baker wasn’t the only one.”

But it’s the central season 2 mystery that has polarized critics. Reviews of the second season haven’t been kind has they were for season 1, which earned high praise for its depiction of teen bullying and suicide. However, critics say that the show’s attempt to stretch out the story past the novel upon which it was based only diminishes the impact of Hannah Baker’s suicide.

But viewers are attached to the characters and the unanswered questions left over from the season 1 finale. And, apparently, defunct technology from the ’90s.

13 Reasons Why stars Dylan Minnette as Clay Jensen, Katherine Langford as Hannah Baker, Kate Walsh as Mrs. Baker, Derek Luke as Mr. Porter, Brandon Flynn as Justin Foley, Justin Prentice as Bryce Walker, Alisha Boe as Jessica Davis, Christian Navarro as Tony Padilla, Miles Heizer as Alex Standall, Devin Druid as Tyler, Annie Winters as Chloe, Tommy Dorfman as Ryan Shaver, Brian D’Arcy James as Mr. Baker, Anne Winters as Chloe,  Sosie Bacon as Skye, Steven Weber as Principle Bowen, and Samantha Logan as Nina.

The series is written, created and produced by Brian Yorkey, with executive producers Selena Gomez, Mandy Teefey, Kristel Laiblin, Anonymous Content Steve Golin and Joy Gorman.

‘The Umbrella Academy’ First Look Reveals Release Date for Netflix Comic Book Series

The Umbrella Academy first look

Netflix has just released the first images and a release date for its next comic book series, The Umbrella Academy.

The Umbrella Academy first look gives us a glimpse at the star-studded cast of the adaptation of Gerard Way‘s graphic novel, led by superhero vet Ellen Page. She plays one of the members of a “super” dysfunctional family who must come together to — what else? — save the world.

Based on the Eisener Award-winning comics and graphic novels by My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way and illustrated by Gabriel BáThe Umbrella Academy tells the story of a group of seven superpowered misfits who live in an alternate timeline where John F. Kennedy was never assassinated. Adopted by an extraterrestrial in disguise named Sir Reginald Hargreeves a.k.a. The Monocle, these seven children are raised and trained the seven to become a team of dysfunctional superheroes.

Netflix picked up the series last year as part of its expansion into comic book adaptations, and soon cast X-Men alum Ellen Page as one of the seven misfit heroes. Now Netflix has released three first images, along with a February 2019 release date, from The Umbrella Academy, showing Page as part of yet another motley crew of heroes.

The Umbrella Academy First Look

Also starring in the live-action series are Tom Hopper, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, David Castañeda, Aidan Gallagher, Cameron Britton, and Mary J. Blige. The cast is talented to be sure, but can The Umbrella Academy stand out in the oversaturated field of superhero titles? I’m rooting for Page to get a big hit, and am excited to see Sheehan playing a superpowered character again after his breakout role in the raunchy U.K. super series Misfits.

Steve Blackman (Fargo) will serve as executive producer and showrunner, with additional executive producers Jeff F. King (Hand of God), Bluegrass Television, and Mike Richardson and Keith Goldberg from Dark Horse Entertainment. Way and Bá will serve as co-executive producers.

Here is the official synopsis for The Umbrella Academy:

On the same day in 1989, forty-three infants are inexplicably born to random, unconnected women who showed no signs of pregnancy the day before. Seven are adopted by Sir Reginald Hargreeves, a billionaire industrialist, who creates The Umbrella Academy and prepares his “children” to save the world. But not everything went according to plan. In their teenage years, the family fractured and the team disbanded. Now, the six surviving thirty-something members reunite upon the news of Hargreeves’ passing. Luther, Diego, Allison, Klaus, Vanya and Number Five work together to solve a mystery surrounding their father’s death. But the estranged family once again begins to come apart due to their divergent personalities and abilities, not to mention the imminent threat of a global apocalypse.

The Umbrella Academy will premiere on Netflix on February 15, 2019.
